The thing I think gets tragically missed here in the West is that Mo Dao Zu Shi is a modern classic of literature and storytelling. That is not hyperbole.
I tried to get into “the Untamed” twice but … I don’t know why but I got bored with it. Even slow-moving C-drama (and I’ve watched a few 50 episode epics) can hold me, but not this. And I am a rare DNFer.
I laud you for giving it an honest try!!! Not every media is for every person! That said, have you watched Nirvana in Fire? I think that is my fave c-drama of all time.

There is a 2019 c-drama named “Guardian,” which is based on one of Priest’s most popular novels. It’s…look, I hate saying it’s bad, but they ran out of money right after they started filming, and it really shows. HOWEVER, if you are into danmei at all, the lead actors’ chemistry is off the charts. Also most of their budget went to the theme song, which is gorgeous.
